- Average speakers
Summary – As you can see from the pros listed above, it looks great. Its got a brilliant design and looks flash. Its very affordable and 24" is a great size if you want to keep it on your desk and play. I was initially planning to wall mount it, but yeh it was a bit too small for it but i dont mind having it on my desk as my computer monitor instead and switching to PS3 when required.
The main problem is that despite it being full HD 1080p, it has an aspect ratio of 16:10. An interesting choice from ViewSonic. This leads to most games out in today's market (720p meant for 16:9 aspect ratio) being stretched and as a result, graphics arent as great. However, we are now entering a period where more and more 1080p games are coming out (GoW III, FF XIII) and as a result any games coming out in future should look great.
Another possible solution is to go to Display settings in your PS3 and untick every resolutio apart from 1080p and the lowest one which cannot be unticked ( I think it is 576p) which definitely made Batman: Arkham Asylum look better.
You can also try putting your LCD to these settings: Contrast 75 Brightness 80 Sharpness 0
The other cons were, just one slot for hdmi, vga, dvi although you can easily buy 1hdmi to 3 adapters but I felt I should mention that. Also no RCA, just 3.5mm output and input. Again might need adapters like the RCA to 3.5 and vice versa. The last one was limited user settings for RGB, etc. Now most users might not even like fiddling with the settings but I like to. However its not as much of a problem as I usually end up with a worser picture after experimenting with the settings. The speakers are located at the back but I think its decent and you can always just plug in your speakers.
Verdict: Its a great looking LCD for its price. The 16:10 aspect ratio stretches out 720p games but just try the settings mentioned above and also remember we are now entering a period now where more and more 1080p games will be released.
4/5 (Very Good)
