Shiki is about a ‘family’ of vampires taking over a remote Japanese village and how strangers are viewed in the small, insulated, community which already has its own pecking order. Some people want to welcome the strangers but others immediately see that something is wrong. Some villagers become vampires and others don't while the villagers go about their business unaware of the worm in their midst. When a few people begin to figure out what's behind the sudden increase in deaths nobody listens to them. Of those who become vampires, some kill willingly, taking their revenge on those who have bullied them or disliked them while alive and those who are only kill because their families are threatened. But what happens in part 2 of Shiki will blow your mind.
