Crash Of The Concorde
4th July 2000, a hundred people from Munchen Gladbach in Germany board the
worldāsĀ first supersonic airliner, Concorde, on a charter flight to New York.
The Concorde catches fire on take off and crashes into a nearby hotel one mile
from the end of the runway.
Tunnel Inferno
24th March 1999, beneath EuropeāsĀ highest mountains lies the eight mile long
Mont Blanc road tunnel. When a freight truck catches fire, the result is a
deadly inferno. AĀ three-day fire-fight reveals why traffic tunnels all over the
world could be just seconds from disaster.
Care De Lyon Crash
27th June 1988, in Gare De Lyon, Paris, a frantic train driver calls the
stationmaster at Gare De Lyon with terrible news. His train is out of control,
heading downhill towards one of Parisā biggest stations. After desperate
attempts to slow the train and hysterical calls to the Paris station, he leaves
his cab and moves passengers to the rear of the runawayĀ train.
Fire On The Star
6th April 1990, people board the ferry, āScandinavian Starā, for the night
crossing from Norway to Denmark. Many are off to visit family for the holiday
weekend. Few will reach their destinations; one in three of them will be dead
within 6Ā hours.
Collision On The Runway
27th March 1977, due to a bomb scare at Las Palmas Airport in the Canaries,
Spain, two jumbo jets are diverted to Los Rodeos Airport in Tenerife. When both
planes prepare to take off on the same runway, disaster strikes.

11th September 2001, The Pentagon: a symbol of power in defence of freedom.
Twenty three thousand men and women work within its 5Ā concentric walls. At
8:15am a plane receives clearance for take-off from Dulles Airport Washington
DC. On board are 64Ā peopleā¦5 of them are planning mass murder.
Inferno At Guadalajara
22nd April 1992, a subterranean infrastructure of sewers, telecommunications,
electricity and water keeps every modern city alive. We take them for granted
until something goes wrong and on this day in the Mexican city of Guadalajara
things went veryĀ wrong.
Amsterdam Air Crash
4th October 1992, Schiphol Airport Holland, the fate of flight El Al 1862Ā led
to one of the biggest aircraft modification programmes in recent history when it
crashed into two apartment blocks. Two of the planeāsĀ engines had sheered off
completely, creating a huge fireball, and a design concept aimed at saving lives
actually caused the deaths of 43Ā people.
Wreck Of The Sunset Limited
22nd September 1993, a tugboat pushes a chain of barges up the Big Bayou Canot
near Mobile, Alabama. ItāsĀ a foggy night and the barge collides with a rail
bridge. The bridge is damaged. 5Ā Miles away the Amtrak Sunset Express hurtles
towards the bridge at 72Ā miles an hour. 8Ā Minutes later the train crosses the
bridge and is derailed.
Meltdown At Chernobyl
26th April 1986, at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in the Ukraine, a routine
test is being carried out. But human error occurs, the test goes wrong and the
situation spirals out of control. The nuclear reactor core breaks down and
within 56Ā seconds there is an explosion. 6Ā Tonnes of radioactive fuel is
ejected into the sky rising 1Ā km into the air like an eruption. The worst
nightmare within the worldāsĀ nuclear industry comesĀ true.
Fire On The Ski Slope
11th November 2000, a funicular railway winds its way up the Kitzsteinghorn
Mountain in Austria. ItāsĀ a beautiful day and 162Ā passengers are making the
short trip to the world famous ski slopes. As the train enters a tunnel,
passengers realise there is a fire onĀ board.
Bali Bombing
12th October 2002, the peaceful island of Bali, Indonesia was stunned by the
worst terrorist attacks since 9ā11. At 11:07pm a bomb explodes at the busy
PaddyāsĀ Bar in Kuta Beach, Bali. Fifteen seconds later, a second, massive
blast devastates the Sari Club across the road. Then a smaller third bombĀ ā a
calling cardĀ ā explodes outside the US Consulate in another part
ofĀ Bali.
