Inspire Fascination
- A manipulation challenge
- Unique textures, shapes and materials for baby to explore and differentiate
- Light up ball engages the concept of cause-and-effect
Developmental Insight
By 6 months of age, babies who have explored an object with their hands alone
also can recognize it by sight alone.
The Illumination Station develops baby’s thinking skills because of its visual and tactile appeal to keep baby interested in and focused on the toy. With a simple bat of the hand, baby can cause the “ferris wheel” to spin.
Interaction Idea
Place the Illumination Station in front of baby and show him how it rotates.
Help him spin the polka-dot ball to see it light up and allow baby to explore on
his own. Show baby how to make the spinners move using the whole hand, then just
the pointer finger.
Take the rattle off the base and let baby hold in hand.
