R&B Mixtape is a fresh take on R&B. Disc 1 is a journey through some of the new sounds coming from young up and coming talent on the scene whilst Disc 2 hones in on R&B’s significance in dance music today and how R&B remixes and dance tracks with R&B vocal cuts are becoming increasingly popular. The album pushes the boundary of how we might define contemporary R&B; many use the label ‘R&B’ for commercial mainstream pop whilst others see it as original rhythm and blues. R&B Mixtape presents another side to the genre.
Disc 1 features the likes of Robin Thicke, Javeon, Banks, Drake, Blood Orange and Bipolar Sunshine whilst Disc 2 includes R&B inspired dance tracks such as Jazzanova & Ben Westbeech, Le Youth, Duke Dumont as well as remixes of Rihanna, Wretch 32, Naughty Boy, Emeli Sandé and Kelis.
R&B Mixtape is the first album of its kind and demonstrates the ever increasing relationship between dance music and R&B.
