A lot of things are not in BF3 that were in BF2, and other people have already stated this so I won't repeat what they are. One thing to note when installing BF3 Limited Edition, is that it may possibly only install as BF3 Standard version, because of an incorrect CD key with the game.
In the Origin window “Battlefield 3 Limited Edition” should show up not “Battlefield 3”. If only Battlefield Field 3 shows, contact nzsupport@ea.com and include photos of your cd key and disk. I also attached my invoice as proof of purchase. Origin itself is an easy install (if you don't already have it) and very easy to use. The BF3 battlelog system and multiplayer is done through the explorer window and now that I am use to it, find it simple to get around with a wealth of information about achievements, unlocks etc you get in the game. BF3 has great graphics, runs well so far and lots of fun in multiplayer and so far haven't had too many problems with connecting or too many random disconnection from the servers. The single player part (campaign) is short. I recommend the game, but do watch out for the Limited Edition coming up as standard.

EA and DICE have shafted the consumer.Many have discovered that they have just a standard version,dispite having LE on the install discs.EA say contact seller(MA) when it has nothing to do with MA.EA and DICE stuffed up in the packaging process. Oh yeah, gane is great, apart from being to much like a console platform.Biggest setback is no VOIP ala BF2,ruins the whole squad/team co-op.

The big drawcard of the Battlefield series is large scale multiplayer combat both on foot and in vehicles. The latest version provides that in large and very satisfying ways.

There are, as always, some issues. Having to have Origin (a steam knockoff) installed is a pain, there have been some server instability issues (mostly fixed by server side patches now) and the occasional hilarious bug. However, none of these get in the way of an extremely fun multiplayer experience. Whether you enjoy running around shooting people, getting in a tank to blow them up, or firing rockets from a helicopter at them you can do that here. Unlocks come fast and frequent giving you more options but outside of the first few (which you can have unlocked in under an hour) aren't required to compete online.

However, if you're more into single player than multiplayer you're best to look elsewhere. Enemies that spawn behind your head, stupid scripting, a mediocre story and inane Quick Time Events (QUICK! Press Space to punch this guy or he'll knife you) mean it's more frustration than fun.
