Step back into the annals of Rugby League history and experience some of the greatest ever games from the New Zealand Warriors. The Warriors became the first and only team from outside Australia to join the competition in 1995, reaching the Finals seven times in their short history.
Sit back and enjoy five classic Warriors games from the Rugby League archives, each presented in their entire original broadcast format – a must-have for the true Warriors fan.
1999, ROUND 25 | WARRIORS 42 – 0 KNIGHTS
In a display of pure dominance all over the park, the Warriors run riot against
a hapless Knights outfit, racking up seven tries and in the process recording
the first shutout in the club’s history.
2002, QUALIFYING FINAL | WARRIORS 36 – 20 RAIDERS
For the first time in Rugby League history a Qualifying Final was played on New
Zealand soil. With the weight of expectation, the Warriors did not disappoint
their fans as the Minor Premiers ran in six tries in a brilliant display of
attacking football, as they marched towards the Grand Final.
2005, ROUND 6 |WARRIORS 30 – 26 KNIGHTS
Down 20–0 after 39 minutes, the game looked all but over for the Warriors.
But inspired by the mercurial Stacey Jones, the impossible comeback suddenly
materialised, and when Francis Meli crossed out wide in the dying seconds the
greatest turnaround in Warriors history was complete.
2008, SEMI-FINAL | WARRIORS 30 – 13 ROOSTERS
After a dominant first half performance by the Roosters, the Warriors went into
the sheds down by seven points. After a dubious penalty try, the Warriors kicked
into overdrive, with a number of scintillating backline moves blowing the
Roosters off the park.
2011, SEMI-FINAL | WARRIORS 22 – 20 TIGERS
Bouncing back from a 12-point deficit twice in the match against the
overwhelming favourites Wests Tigers, the Warriors refuse to follow the script
and record one of the greatest Finals upsets in recent history.
