Description

NRL Essentials: Brisbane Broncos, 5 games presented on 3 DVDs.

Step back into the annals of Rugby League history and experience some of the greatest ever games from the Brisbane Broncos. Joining the competition in 1988, the Broncos won their first Premiership in 1992 and followed it up with back-to-back titles in 1993, establishing themselves as a major force ever since. Sit back and enjoy five classic Broncos games from the Rugby League archives, each presented in their entire original broadcast format – a must-have for the true Broncos fan.

  • 1990, MINOR SEMI FINAL | BRONCOS 12 – 4 SEA EAGLES

Following a Preliminary Finals loss to the Penrith Panthers, a Broncos side missing stars Dale Shearer and Greg Dowling overcomes the Manly Sea Eagles in a gritty encounter at the Sydney Football Ground to record their first ever Finals victory.

  • 1993, PRELIMINARY FINAL | BRONCOS 23–16 BULLDOGS

In a classic Finals encounter, Allan Langer inspires a second half turnaround, with the diminutive halfback scoring a try and potting a field goal before the Bronco’s trip to a second consecutive Grand Final is sealed by a late Allan Cann try under the posts.

  • 2002, ROUND 12 |BRONCOS 28 – 14 WESTS TIGERS

With no fewer than nine stars missing through Origin duty, an inexperience Broncos squad were given no chance against a veteran Wests Tigers outfit at Campbelltown. In a now legendary performance, the so-called “Baby Broncos” stood up to be counted and brought back a win for the ages.

  • 2006, PRELIMINARY FINAL | BRONCOS 37 – 20 BULLDOGS

Against the in-form Bulldogs and with their hopes of Grand Final berth fading by the minute in the face of a 20–6 half-time deficit, skipper Darren Lockyer rises to the occasion and turns in an imperious performance, inspiring his side to score 31 unanswered points in a stirring comeback.

  • 2011, SEMI FINAL | BRONCOS 13 – 12 DRAGONS

In a mouth-watering Semi-Final showdown against former coach Wayne Bennett’s reigning Premiers, again it is the Broncos’ talisman Darren Lockyer who proves the difference. Playing on with a fractured cheekbone, Lockyer sinks the winning field goal in what would be his final game in Broncos jersey.

  • SPECIAL BONUS FEATURE | 1988, ROUND 1 | BRONCOS 36 – 4 SEA EAGLES

Enjoy bonus extended highlights* of the Broncos’ first ever game, the 1988 Round 1 thrashing of reigning Premiers, Manly-Warringah. *A full version of this game does not exist in archives.
