Highway to Heaven TV Show Reviews
“What began as a farfetched idea for a television show turned into one of the most beloved family dramas of the 1980s. In addition to star Michael Landon's roles on classic, long-running shows like Bonanza and Little House on the Prairie, it cemented Landon's reputation as one of the 20th century's most influential, beloved, and recognizable television figures…Whether you are a fan of the show or have yet to discover this mid-'80s gem, give Highway to Heaven: Season One a try. You may find yourself pleasantly surprised by the straightforward stories…it's pretty good stuff that has stood the test of time.” DVD Verdict
“Beautifully moving, with deceptively simple, powerful scripting, straightforward direction, and quietly effective thesping, Michael Landon's Highway to Heaven: Season One comes over as one of the best TV dramas of the 1980s.” DVD Talk
“Most television series seem to dwell on the worse aspects of the human condition. Many glorify violence, indiscriminate sex and immorality as a routine part of their typical stories. Occasionally a series comes along that makes an attempt to be entertaining and uplifting; a seemingly impossible task but some producers have tried. One of the best received and most creative was a series that ran on NBC for five years; ‘Highway to Heaven’. It is notable for the way it incorporated non-denominational spirituality into a family oriented TV series…This is family entertainment the way it should be.” hometheaterinfo.com
