An album from Armik is like a postcard from Madrid - vibrant, tropical and certain to make you anxious to hop a flight across the Atlantic. GUITARRISTAS finds the guitarist doing what he does best, with eleven cuts of romantic, tantalizing flamenco guitar music, accented by breezy rumba rhythms and the occasional trumpet flourish.
Armik's technique continues to shine, especially on the more technically demanding numbers like "Fire Within." In terms of the slower numbers, "Felipe's Moon" and "Besos de Amor" both show the kind of romantic whimsy that has long been an Armik trademark, with memorable melodies and light slow-dance friendly rhythms. All of the material on the album is newly composed, and a showcases Nuevo Flamenco music at its best.
