If you're sick of hollywood formula flicks then this is the movies for you. Breaking all the rules this one plows under its cornfield and builds something wonderful. It's heartwarming and insane at the same time. It's a movie that relies on total suspension of disbelief and not CGI robots! I saw this movie on my own in London when it was first released. I came out and phone my father in New Zealand straight away. It's a movie about what it is to be a father, a husband and a son. Don't think this is just a movie about baseball it will move you. Life starts when we take crazy dreams and make them reality. An excellent Blu-ray transfer the extras are good too but I did miss the Directors Commentary from the DVD release a few years back. A terrific movie.
Field of Dreams is a 1989 American fantasy-drama film on Blu-ray, directed by Phil Alden Robinson and starring Kevin Costner.
Nominated for three Academy Awards®, including Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay, Phil Alden Robinson's Field of Dreams is a mesmerizing tale of resilience, faith and conviction. Inspired by a voice he can't ignore to pursue a dream he can hardly believe, struggling Iowa corn farmer Ray Kinsella (Academy Award® winner Kevin Costner, Dances With Wolves) faces one of the most challenging dilemmas of his life. Haunted by echoes of the past, the message is an instruction to build a baseball field on his farm. Fulfilling the unusual request, Ray is visited by the ghosts of ‘Shoeless’ Joe Jackson (Ray Liotta, Goodfellas) and the other seven Chicago White Sox players banned from the game for throwing the 1919 World Series. As the voices continue to stir Ray's imagination, he seeks out reclusive author Terence Mann (Academy Award® nominee James Earl Jones) to help him understand the meaning his quest and discover the purpose for his remarkable field.
