I think its a pretty good game, and I'm enjoying playing it. But it does has
some issues. Number one would be the bad save/load system. You can't save your
game in multiple slots or during missions. In missions you have to endure the
checkpoint system so get ready to be forced to replay secitions over
and over.
Another thing I literally hate about it is the absurd abundance of
dangerous, make that incredibly lethal, wildlife. I can't tell you how sick
I am of being attacked by dogs, panthers, wolves, badgers, tigers and eagles…
Oh my god the eagles over and over. Worse is seeing your fellow rebels and the
poor sherpas and civilians getting slaughtered by the wildlife absurdly
frequently.
Finally there are too many missions that instantly fail if you're detected,
use the wrong weapon type to kill a target or allow too many hostages to die.
I like having stealth as an OPTION in games. But I don't like it when I'm
forced into it and the mission is an automatic fail if I'm detected.
I think this game is an improvement over FC 3 in many ways. You can turn
the minimap off and hide loot, pickups, missions and just about everything else
on the main map if you like to discover these things by actually exploring. And
you don't get a free weapon after climbing every single radio tower.
The combat is fun and challenging, despite how frustrating it is trying to
shoot an enemy while he's rapidly side stepping. And the characters are
interesting and well acted, despite how similar the villain is to the one in FC
3, in that they're both sadistic, unhinged maniacs.
A good game, but one that you just have to accept its quirks and go
with it.
