"Much better than what everyone was expecting"
4 stars"

From the onset of this games public reveal, I got a sense that everyone out there despised this game with fervor, but I like to wait to play games to give my own opinion. I was actually very surprised with how this game played and the special emphasis ninja theory took to aerial combat. The game is quite polished and the plot was reasonably sound.

Ninja Theory didn't move a great deal away from the tried and true DMC world but did refine and extend some elements of the gameplay mechanics to put to use this new Dante's redefined heritage and supernatural powers (He is now an Angel-Demon Hybrid as opposed to a human-demon hybrid he was previously). In particular with this new heritage Dante now uses his Rebellion sword that morphs into other weapons of Angel and Demon origin by use of the trigger buttons, with fast but weak strikes from his Angel weapons and slow but very strong attacks from his demonic ones. As stated before there is a great focus on airtime combat which is helped by his angel and demon grapple chains that either pull him towards an enemy (angel) or pull an enemy towards him (demon).

It is also quite refreshing to see that the environment is now an enemy as well as the usual demonic horde which adds some variety to the gameplay. It is also good that they reintroduced Dante's devil trigger ability which now “messes up” the world around him when unleashed making all but the boss enemies significantly slow down and float aimlessly in mid air.

I wouldn't give this game a perfect rating because there were some points within the game that were not well engineered, and the plot was actually very good up until about 3/4 way when it sort of slowed down and became less interesting. However I do praise how u can now juggle enemies in the air indefinitely and the new gameplay mechanics which is a little different from other dmc games.

If you are new to spectacle fighting game just like me, this reboot of DMC should be fine for you. Why- Because although I never played its previous titles, I personally enjoyed this reboot of a game. For its solid gameplay and story.
