3 stars "Good in it's own right, but no Disciples II.."

If you have played Disciples II and enjoyed it then you will probably not enjoy this. One of the biggest reasons for me is becuase the units just don't look epic anymore! They are small, less agressive looking, and look too similar after a level-up. Similarly the battle system is just like King's Bounty or HOMM which makes it feel like a cheap rip-off.

I can say that the music and graphics are satisfying enough for a modern game but it just hasn't got that charisma of Disciples II – hence why i believe the game is good in it's own right, but leaves something to be desired after Disciples II.

5 stars "Great turn based rpg!"

The graphics are beautiful, the plot is good and the music is not bad too. I like how you get to choose what uni to upgrade and the unit uses percentage hp rather than actual numbers so you don't have to restock it every time like King's Bounty does.

The only bad thing is the game is kind of slow if run on high graphics options. Also one game takes a few hours to complete that's fine if you want to kill time but sometimes it can get annoying.

5 stars "A must have!"

In one sentence, a great game.

I preordered this game 3 years ago and can say it was worth the wait.
I have always enjoyed the disciples games, and have played the 1,2 and the expansions.
I don't feel this game lets the francise down at all.

The graphics are epic when turned up and just like William, even with them turned up I didn't have a single crash.

  • The story is good.
  • The hero leveling system is well thought out, providing alot of options for which way to develop your character.
  • The new territory expanders actually are defensive units which level up as well
  • Supporting heroes can come with you from campaign act to act.
  • The 3d battle system is impressive, new increased damage land types are added which add to the strategy

I could recommend this game to everyone.
The patch sorted out the little tiny problems, but I found it great before I even got the patch.
Strongly recommend, a good game to sit down to.

5 stars "A masterpiece!"
P.s. To editor: I wrote the original ‘preview’, can you delete that one and include this ‘review’ instead? Or just leave it at that, up to you.

I have finished this game after more than a Month of playing through it (the campaign) and it was non-stop addictive fun throughout, if you have played games like the KB series you'll be at home with this game, but I had more fun with this game!
There are many people who have a very bad concept of this game because they keep comparing it to its predecessor Disciples 2, I can't comment on that as I haven't played it (yet) but comparing it to other turn-based games I have played this game is tops.
The game looks BEAUTIFUL with all settings maxed and I didn't have any slowdowns, crashes, etc. Just some minimal non-game breaking bugs which have mostly been addressed with the patch, the game ran without a hitch on
Windows 7.
The story is interesting, and the combat is fun, there are three factions: The empire, The legions of the damned & The elven alliance, I must say they're all fun to play with but I specially loved the elven one.
The game is great value for money as it is LONG, it certainly took me a while to finish it.
If you have an open mind, not clouded by comparing it to its predecessor & other games, you'll enjoy this game, I urge you to buy it as it is a great game despite what other negative people say about it, just don't believe the criticisms as they are blown out of proportion.

5 stars "Great game, buy it!"

I have been playing this game and think it's great, there is a lot to learn but once you get the hang of it the game is much fun.

So if you're unsure about buying it or not, don't be, just buy it!

Description

Disciples III: Renaissance is the sequel to Disciples II: Dark Prophecy; the award winning Heroic Fantasy Strategy/Role Playing game. The player takes on the role of the Lord of one of the fantastic races of Nevendaar in their enduring struggle to establish the reign of their respective god over the world. Ripe with surprises and turn-arounds, the story of the world of Nevendaar is played against a somber backdrop and shows a unique as well as stunning style that has players asking for more.

Features:
  • Advances in game play and the addition of new elements make Disciples III richer and more interesting. The visual design follows the ominous style of the Disciples world, but now all of the game environments and individual units are in stunning real-time 3D.
  • Disciples III uses .dat’s in-house Virtual Dream engine, which supports all modern 3D technologies, and will initially feature 3 playable races: The Empire, The Legions of the Damned, and the Noble Elves, each with its unique Unit styles and city representation that will allow city sieges, and ending with a battle for the main fortress.
