4 stars "Great game but Servers are rubish"

A great game with a lot of new content. The only issue I have is the badly implemented patch system Blizzard as come up with which means not being able to play the game for 20+ hours at a time and full servers.

3 stars "Not sure where I stand on this one"

Game play is what I expected, mindless fun to be had by most.
The last difficulty level (Inferno) is a whole different kettle of fish. All the previous difficulty settings you could find the gear you needed to progress as you were happily slaying monsters. However in Inferno that pretty much ends right there. The gear you find is not going to do it, so you have a choice of farming gold for days on end, hopefully getting the odd good drop that you can sell. Do this for a while to buy the gear you need. A lot of people make the game an Auction House simulator type game, they gear themselves up by monitoring the auction house for days and buying low and selling high. This is by far the most efficient way to make gold. Well, other than using the real money auction house, where you spend you real life currency on digital in game items.
It is extremely unlikely progress through the finally difficulty setting without buying your gear, and unless you get extremely lucky with a drop that is worth a lot to sell it will take a major amount of farming of gold (or spending real money) to complete the game.
Some got lucky at first and managed to bash their way through the game before the nerfs hit, so you will hear varied opinions about all this.
Overall, this is a Trade based game, you got to enjoy the buying and selling of items. Have a look at the class forums, instead of builds and tactics and other useful discussions you will see 90% are Want To Sell (some bit of gear).
So to sum up, fun game play until you get to the final difficulty level, then it all changes and then it becomes a merchant simulator that requires days and days of farming to get gold. Then play the auction house game so you can afford to buy a bit of an upgrade so you can farm faster.
To me the game is a 5/5 until you hit Inferno, then it becomes a 0/5. I will be generous and average that out to a 3/5 for old time's sake.

3 stars "Good game just didnt really get in to it"

Fan of the past diablo games this one is still pretty awesome but im more of a console gamer and not a pc gamer so I never really got stuck into it as much as I would have liked.

"Good Value at under $50"

Gives you some mindless fun times, reliving the old Diablo Days! Nothing ground breaking but still a fun game. The always have to be online is not a feature I like but can live with.

Description

Diablo III picks up the story twenty years after the events of Diablo II. Mephisto, Diablo, and Baal have been defeated, but the Worldstone, which once shielded the inhabitants of the world of Sanctuary from the forces of both Heaven and Hell, has been destroyed, and evil once again stirs in Tristram.

“…addictive on a level few games can match” 9.5/10 – IGN
“…an absolutely stellar game” 91/100 Gaming Nexus
“…devilishly captivating and addictive” 8.5/10 – Gamespot

Playing as a hero from one of five distinct character classes, players will acquire powerful items, spells, and abilities as they explore new and familiar areas of Sanctuary and battle hordes of demons to safeguard the world from the horrors that have arisen.

  • Explore a fully-realized Sanctuary – the living, breathing gothic fantasy world of Diablo III rendered in gorgeous 3D.
  • Battle the unholy forces of the Burning Hells with all-new character classes like the otherworldly Witch Doctor, or with re-imagined warriors from Diablo’s past: such as the fierce Barbarian.
  • Rain Hell on your enemies wielding the interactive environment as a weapon: lay cunning traps, turn destructible objects against your foes, and use environmental obstacles to your advantage – all powered by the Havoc physics system.
  • Experience the intensity of multiplayer Diablo III over an all-new, wickedly-enhanced Battle.net platform with numerous enhancements to make connecting with your friends easier – and cooperative gameplay more fun.

REVIEWS

“…So many systems from previous Diablo titles have been improved, making for an approachable, rewarding and deeply satisfying treasure hunting game. It's addictive on a level few games can match, so much so that it's easy to largely overlook its flaws. Sure, if you want you could really nitpick Diablo III’s design, but ultimately any minor grievances seem so trivial when compared to the enjoyment I had and will continue to have with this for years to come.” 9.5/10 – IGN

“Has Blizzard created a game that can last as long as Diablo 2 has? I don't know, but Diablo3 is an absolutely stellar game that everyone can enjoy, provided they've got a stable internet connection, and the time to find all that sweet, sweet loot.” 91/100 Gaming Nexus

“..a devilishly captivating and addictive action role-playing game.” 8.5/10 – Gamespot

“With Diablo III, Blizzard made one of the most approachable and enjoyable games in the world even better. In fact, aside from the annoying online-only infrastructure, I can't imagine a single thing I would change to make this game better. That's when you know you have a classic on your hands, and that's also when you know you should play this game as much as you can.” 95/100 – Machinma
