Anna won the 2004 Royal Overseas League Vocal competition and was named the best overseas competitor in the same competition. After completing her graduate diploma at the Royal Academy of Music, she joined the Benjamin Britten International Opera School. She has since been made Associate Artist of the Classical Opera Company and appeared numerous times at Covent Garden following her debut as Tamiri in Il re pastore.
This release presents an eclectic mix of repertoire including a number of Lieder by Johannes Brahms and Richard Strauss and English Songs by Arthur Somervell, Herbert Howells, Peter Warlock and Herbert Hughes.
One highlight on the album is the recording of the ‘Seven Spanish Folksongs’ by the less-well-known Spanish composer Manuel de Falla. A rare treat as these songs are not often recorded.
