Quite enjoyed this book, Not a particularly challenging read, but some interesting characters and plenty of space combat action.
Reminds me somewhat of Ender's game (Orson Scott Card) Mixed with a little bit of Battlestar Galactica / Star Trek Voyager.
I'll be giving the next book in the series a shot.
Military Science Fiction officionado's would agree that author Jack Campbell's series – starring “hero” Black Jack Geary – is a stunning entry into the genre…and a worthy successor to the other great Military Sci-Fi writers, such as David Weber & Elizabeth Moon. Black Jack is a very likeable character, and Campbell's descriptions of space & space warfare are very involved & entertaining without being too technical. Certainly recommend you start this series, and continue on to the end – mainly because the reader needs to find out what happens in future for this particular hero! I am certainly going to persevere & buy all of the books in the series when I can – all 12 of them!!
