The release date for Lil Wayne's Tha Carter IV has been pushed back so many
times that it's totally understandable if anyone's been skeptical that the
album will make its current August 29 release date. As it turns out though, the
LP's scheduled to arrive on time– right on time, in fact. As in, right when
the clock strikes midnight on August 29, as Billboard reports. The midnight
digital release is intended to capitalize on Wayne's performance at the MTV
Video Music Awards this Sunday night, August 28. The physical edition will also
be released on August 29.
In other Wayne news, the soft-batch acoustic number “How to Love” has landed
Wayne in yet another lawsuit. TMZ reports reports that rapper Rich Rick filed a
lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court last week claiming that he had
purchased rights to the song's beat, along with several other beats, between
2006 and 2009 from production crew Drummer Boyz. Apparently, Drummer Boyz
offered the beat to Wayne in 2010, and he accepted it with a 35% royalty
agreement. Rich Rick's suing Lil Wayne, Drummer Boyz, and others for everything
the production team is entitled to under their agreement with Wayne, plus 10%
interest. Ouch.
Billboard also reports that Wayne was taken to the hospital last night after his performance in St. Louis due to “a minor skateboarding accident.” It resulted in a gash over his left eye that required nine stitches. Tunechi took to his Twitter to let everyone know he's OK, though: “The Lou was good but I busted my fuggin head at the sk8park! 9stiches! Gnarly gash over my left eye! Luv the people.” (Pitchfork)
