Adeaze are the architects of their own sound featuring soaring harmonies and emotional song writing far beyond their years. A new movement in the sound of contemporary R&B music.
The band name Adeaze helped to describe the character of their music. “We chose Adeaze because it was a description of our music. In army terms, ‘attention’ means a firm stance to attention mode, and then ‘at ease’, which means relax." Evident at an early stage the brothers had certainty over what their music stood for.
Officially signed to Dawn Raid Entertainment at the end of 2002, Adeaze released their first single ‘A Life With You’ which went platinum, selling over 15,000 copies. American pop diva Mariah Carey, extracted a sample of the Adeaze single and used it in the track ‘Your Girl’, which featured on her album The Emancipation of Mimi. Record label, Dawnraid, said it was the first time that an artist of Carey's status had sampled New Zealand hip-hop or R&B.
Adeaze continued to work fervently on their debut album Always and For Real, and it paid off. The album surpassed gold status and hit 12,500 in the first week. Always & For Real quickly reached #1 on the album chart and clocked up double platinum sales. They also went on to win the Best Pacific Group Award at the inaugural Pacific Music Awards in 2005.
Also entered in the charts was the Adeaze version of the Bee Gees' ‘How Deep Is Your Love’ which became a top 10 hit. The R&B duo enjoyed further chart success with the track “Getting Stronger”, a collaboration with songstress Aaradhna that earned Gold sales.
The year 2011 has deliberately delivered the vibrant and matured Adeaze duo back to the Music Scene. The brothers performed a special Tribute to the band Ardijah at the S³ Pacific Music Awards, for the MIT Lifetime Achievement Award. Their collaboration with Nesian Mystik featured their tight harmonies in remix of the Nesian track “Sun goes Down” followed by a hint of rock incorporated in the Deceptikonz hip hop lead single “Evolution.”
Now back in the spotlight, Adeaze signed directly to Universal Music in August of 2010 and shortly after collaborated with superstar Ronan Keating on a cover of ‘Say, Say, Say’ for his #1 album Duet.
The last few months have seen Adeaze busy with the daily production and recording sessions for their new album, Rise and Shine. The first single ‘Got My Girl For Life’ was delivered to radio in October, and in February this year Adeaze followed that up with ‘Broken Promises’.
The third single from Rise and Shine is ‘Paradise’. This recording saw Adeaze bring together friends, family and local artists to sing with them. The featured artists are: Che Fu, Vince Harder, Pele Nili, Lapi Mariner, Te Awanui Reeder (Nesian Mystik), Pieter T, Jason Kerrison (Opshop) and Don McGlashan. Adeaze wrote this song to encourage people, wherever they are at in their lives, to find their own paradise.
The Release of Rise and Shine marks the beginning of a new chapter for Adeaze, and the boys are excited to be back doing what they love best – making great music and putting on great shows. Adeaze have delivered a beautifully constructed album replete with songs of love, lost and found, and ultimately of hope.
