Beyond: Two Souls reviews

Obviously this game has polarised a lot of critics. No one is too sure how to rate it. After playing it, I am very impressed. The motion capture is stunning and Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe smash it! Very engrossing story line and visually stunning. A great showcase of gaming as an art form.

This game is amazing, the storyline is interesting and has some great twists and turns. The characters are relatable, and even though the game is not in chronological order the story is easy enough to follow. Ellen Page (Jodie) is spectacular as is Willem Dafoe (Nathan). I highly recommend buying this game! 10/10

Great game. Very atmospheric.

Haven't finished it yet but the storyline is really good so far and really captivating. Love Ellen's work in this. There's a lot of cutscenes though so make sure you play it when you're not likely to be interrupted.

So, the games out. What's it like- As someone who has bought and played both Fahrenheit and Heavy Rain I do kind of admit I knew what kind of title I was purchasing, heavy on story and light on interaction.

I've even heard posited it might have made a better film than a game, and I'm agreeable to an extent, but I can also influence characters actions, responses and the way scenes play out.. affecting the outcome of the story and making me like and care about the characters more.

Graphics are great, acting itself is superb though you will discover quirks.. like making the whole world wait until you choose to interact with something.

It's by no means a perfect game but a wonderfully enjoyable interactive film or whatever it is.

An impressive and entertaining story. This game is more of an interactive movie that focuses on storytelling where your choices affect the setting and characters around you like “Telltales The Walking Dead” or “The Wolf Among Us”. Some deter from these kind of games but i for one quite enjoy them. It's a nice change of pace from the other games i like to play (RPG's, Action/Adventures, Shooters, MMO's) I highly recommend this to any who enjoy a good story. =)

Great game. Got it for a good price, but then it went on special a few days after it was delivered for a lot less. Win Some Loose Some.

Freaken orsume game

Brilliant game, played it twice already (and already planning round 3)! Every time you play it's a little different – different choices change the story further down the line and I am hooked. I know this is a game that I will go back and play over and over in the future. Def my best purchase this year.

At E3 when I saw this game I thought it was about an Up-n-Coming woman fighting through a male-driven career of becoming a cop

What we had instead was a more intense sci-fi experience and I enjoyed it thoroughly! Following the path of a person born with both the gift and curse of never being alone…

Brilliant story! Gets a bit losty where it jumps back and forth and can be a little hard to follow, but for those with a steady mind, good memory and a love for Sci-Fi games then you must buy this!

In a day n Age where Call Of Duty's “Amazing” story driven games rule the roost, its great to see such storytelling prowess and mind-screwy-ness in a game :D

Simple awesome. Game play is great along with the story. Once you start playing this game it will be hard to stop.

Really good game. So much better then I was expecting. Has a nice story and you can change the story as you go which not many games let you do. Amazing soundtrack and fits in perfectly. Was really fun to play and play again to see a new outcome to the story.

What happened to game play, I feel all my ps3 titles have become a movie. It tells me do something for 5 mins then a 6 min cut scene. If you expect much interaction with this game prepared to be disappointed if you want to watch a decent movie where you have “little choices” in how it effects game play then buy this game

I watched my daughter play this game. The graphics are awesome. The story was right up hers and mine alley and even though I was just watching it still kept me interested.

Loved this game, every minute of it was exciting! And so many different options and outcomes to choose from. Ellen Page and William DeFoe are fantastic in this game as well. 5 stars! Soon as I was done playing it the first time I immediately started over =)

I played the demo of Beyond and I had to get the game. I've enjoyed playing every minute so far although there are parts that can get frustrating mainly due to the controls. I also wasn't keen on the jumping time frame, it made the story a bit difficult to keep up with at times. Overall, a highly recommended game.

I really enjoyed this game. Such a compelling story, user friendly gameplay as well as accessibility to a large amount of your surrounding, whether you're little, teen or grown up Jodie. Game so greatly developed into a story that you dictate even if you thought you made a mistake. Highly recommend.

Not a high action game. It plays very easily and as a story. Don't expect a Dragon Age or Mass Effect action RPG with lots of choices. There's really only 2 paths at the end of the day as the endings are still the same unless you made that “choice” early on.

Still very much enjoyed the game and has alright replay value just to mess around. Great acting and motion capture. Could really have been a movie :)

I played and never expected heart touching experience. It is a game that has to be played to have the feel of those moments.

The trailer really sold this game for me, because I love games which have a good story.

The story really is intense, and I absolutely love it. There is a haunting yet sincere relationship between Jodie and Aiden. The relationships with other characters including scientists and love interests are also very touching and well acted out.

I struggle however with the way the story was told. I know the fact that her life was kind of fractured is reason for setting the chapters out the way they did, but the way the chapters jumped between past and future made it hard sometimes to truly engage and know what was happening. In some ways, I would have felt a lot more sorrow etc. Knowing fully the events leading up to something. It also made it hard to connect with some characters when I know I really wanted to. Also, the game teaches you how to deal with action, how to move from cover to cover, but that doesn't really happen much at all.

In saying that, I think the game is worth it. The story, although difficult to keep along with, is quite unique, and visually the game is beautiful. It didn't last very long, and I probably won't do a second play through.

Never in my life have I played a PlayStation game with Action, Drama, Strategy, Romance and more all rolled into one! The graphics on the menu before you even start catch your attention immediately! From her facial expressions right down to the pores on her face – I've never seen anything like it! Playing Beyond: Two Souls is one of the best experiences I've had on the PS3 – the game suits me perfectly. I think that having Ellen Page as the main character (and myself being a fan) I've become attached to her and the story line. I am still yet to complete Beyond – but am thoroughly enjoying every inch of drama and impeccable graphics and they day I finish… I won't know what to do with myself!

Great game to give you an interesting story and hours of enjoyment. 10/10

This is awesome. Could not put it down from the day I picked it up. I have finished it twice now and im on my third playthrough now. Story is amazing. Voice acting is Excellent. 11/10 in my opinion

It took a while to get into this game but wow what an awesome story, brilliant game play graphics bit dark. It provided options through out the game which made it possible to replay again with different outcomes.

The story line is brilliant. It's filled with twists and turns and interesting plot points.

Only draw card for this game is Ellen page

Great game, I recommend purchasing this game for your collection of A class titles.

If you like the Last of Us the you may like this as well. My husband has played the Last of Us all the way through and so I bought him this game for Christmas.

An experience you cannot miss.

If you love single player games for their storylines, you're gonna love this game.
