4 stars "Awesome"

Ive never been a real Shihad listener, but have always enjoyed there songs on the radio. Since they went and released a new album, I thought Id might as well finally pick a Shihad album up and see if they are as good as they are on the radio.

The first song, One Will Hear The Other, is a great song, and not as heavy as some as I've heard on the radio, but good nontheless. The Next song “Rule The World” is my personal favourite off this album, and sets the mark for the rest of what is a truly great album.

A Must buy!

4 stars "A change"

Some people have said that Shihad’s latest album is poppy and crap, based on their first impression release of their opening release “One Will Hear the other” and yet they have never listened to the album.

Sure I found this album less heavy than their previous albums like “Love is the New Hate” or “the General Electric” but you can’t say that this album isn’t Shihad. This album is reminiscent of the fishy album. It composes of catchy melodies with complimenting drum beats and guitar riffs, it’s not heavy, it’s not light and by no way can this album be classed as pop. Sure ok, so it’s no “General Electric” but it’s definitely not “panic at the disco” either. Shihad hasn’t lost their metal. They have just proved that they can write songs good, songs without grungy guitars yet still stay catchy.

Its different, but it’s all Shihad baby, don’t hate this album, in the words of Shihad themselves “Love is the new Hate”.

Beautiful Machine is the seventh studio album from New Zealand's premier rock band.

Months before release, it had 45,000 Big Day Out punters bouncing from stage to stalls in Auckland, where its heart-stopping first single, "One Will Hear The Other", has put their past airplay in the shade.

"We're all quietly confident this is the most focused record since The General Electric," says singer Jon Toogood, referring to the band's landmark rock radio arrival of '99.

"The feeling in the band is way more positive after the last few years of touring 'cause it had been so cathartic. It was like, right, I wanna have fun with melody again. I wanna have fun with grooves. I wanna write great songs that really connect and move people."

Beautiful Machine is loaded with them, from the exhilarating uplift of "One Will Hear The Other" to the atmospheric harmony of "Hard to Please"; from the glam rock thump of "Rule The World" to the heartbreaking tenderness of "Waiting Around For God".
