Double pack featuring 300 and 300: Rise of an Empire on Blu-ray and Ultraviolet. 300 Rise of an Empire is a 2014 American fantasy war film, directed by Noam Murro and a follow up to the 2007 film 300, directed by Zack Snyder.
300
The epic graphic novel 300 by Frank Miller (Sin City) assaults the screen with
the blood, thunder and awe of its ferocious visual style faithfully recreated in
an intense blend of live-action and CGI animation. Retelling the ancient Battle
of Thermopylae, it depicts the titanic clash in which King Leonidas (Gerald
Butler) and 300 Spartans fought to the death against Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro)
and his massive Persian army. Experience history at sword point. And moviemaking
with a cutting edge.
300: Rise of an Empire
Greek general Themistocles leads the charge against invading Persian forces led
by mortal-turned-god Xerxes and Artemisia, vengeful commander of the Persian
navy. After its victory over Leonidas' 300, the Persian Army under the command
of Xerxes marches towards the major Greek city-states. The Democratic city of
Athens, first on the path of Xerxes' army, bases its strength on its fleet, led
by admiral Themistocles. Themistocles is forced to an unwilling alliance with
the traditional rival of Athens, oligarchic Sparta whose might lies with its
superior infantry troops. But Xerxes still reigns supreme in numbers over sea
and land.
