We're sure by now you all know how much we love NZXT cases. What we don't
talk much about however, is their awesome cooling solutions – like the NZXT
Kraken X31 Liquid Cooler.
One of the first consumer closed loop coolers with an integrated variable
speed pump, the Kraken X31 gives you all the cooling of the pros without a
complicated installation process.
A simple 120mm fan makes this compatible with almost every case, giving you
awesome cooling no matter how small your rig.
Best of all, the NZXT CAM software suite gives you control over your fans
from anywhere in the world. Keep an eye on how things are running if you've left
a complicated job going overnight!

We Mighty Ape monkeys like to play, and when it comes to custom gaming rigs,
we play hard.
Nothing says this more than the latest Gorilla
in the Mist which pushed the hardware so far we had to install over $1000
worth of water cooling to keep temperatures and acoustics down. Which let us
enjoy a spot of 4K gaming.
Of course, we're all about showing off, so we figured we'd give you all a run
down of the main components and how we cooled them to give you a bit of
inspiration for your own rigs…

This is the 5th and final blog in my Custom Water Cooling Series. Click here
to check out the rest of the blogs.
It's done! My water cooling loop is fully installed. I have had a good
tinker with the rig, pushing the limits of voltages and multipliers. This is
what I ended up with:
CPU: AMD Bulldozer
FX-8150 Octa-Core
Standard Clock: 3.6GHz
Over clocked: 4.214 GHz
GPU: EVGA
GTX 770 with ACX (once upon a time)
Standard: 1111MHz
Over clocked: 1332MHz

The second part of my Custom
Water Cooling Series has me pulling apart my previous build and giving
everything a good tidy up.
The Corsair
H100i comes out and will probably end up going into my BitFenix
Phenom build. I saved all the Corsair
SP120s to be moved over to the new build.
Corsair
have a couple of fans which should be of note to all rig builders out there. The
SP
series fans are designed to blast focused penetrating air through
radiators due to their static pressure optimized design. And the AF
series fans are designed to move large quantities of air, great if
you are looking to exhaust or intake to create air flow. Both of these fans come
with adapters to drop down voltages to get the fans as quiet as you'd like.

For the longest time now I have been considering doing a full water cooled
loop in my system. Only held back by the fact that NZ doesn't have affordable
access to the parts required. This is no longer an issue. Mighty Ape has secured
a supplier with a full range of water cooling equipment to get your system water
cooled! I guess for a lot of you out there, this would be a real foreign
concept to you in regards to computing.
Is it really a good idea to be running water so close to
expensive electrical equipment?
To put your minds at ease, kits are available these days which take away much
of the guess work that used to be involved with putting a loop together. Methods
of fitting tubing has come along way to the point where above average rig
builders can put safe loops together with proper precaution.
The reason water cooling exists, is to accommodate power users who are
looking for a quiet operating rig, without sacrificing performance and super
high temperatures.
