In association with Kiwimodeller and AK Interactive Mighty Ape Hobbies is pleased to announce our second Virtual Modelling Competition. This time the theme commemorates 100 years since the beginning of the First World War.

Its a great chance to check out some of the brilliant new kits produced to mark the 100th anniversary, try out a new project and share your experiences and finished models.

This time the competition has two parts: The Group Build and the Model Showcase and there's great prizes up for grabs in both!

AK Learning Series Issue #2 has arrived: Panzer Crew Uniforms

Another huge shipment from AK Interactive arrived in the Hobbies Jungle this week and brought with it heaps of new Modelling Magazines & Books including the latest in the AK Learning Series.

Issue 2: Panzer Crew Uniforms has been written to compliment the newly released Panzer Crew Black Uniforms and Flesh & Skin Colours paint sets.

And judging from some of the included articles it appears very likely that a German Camouflage Uniforms paint set will also be on the way soon, which is great news!

Given that German tanks and armoured vehicles and their accompanying crews are some of the most prevalent scale modelling subjects, this guide will be of great use to a large number of modellers and will also be a fantastic resource for Flames of War players as well.

The wait is over, The Weathering Magazine has returned!

Not only has the latest issue, Issue 6: Kursk & Vegetation just landed but we've also just received the long anticipated reprints of Issues 2–5 as well.

Each issue covers a particular weathering theme in detail, demonstrating how to achieve effects such as chipping or rust using a variety of techniques and across a range of subjects, making The Weathering Magazine an invaluable resource for scale modellers and tabletop gamers alike!

We've also got some great new releases from Mig jimenez' new brand, Ammo of Mig Jimenez inlcuding the fantastic SS Camouflage Guide.

We've just had a massive shipment arrive from AK Interactive including all their latest releases.

One of the ones we've been looking forward to the most is the first book in their new Learning Series, Realistic Wood Effects so let's take a closer look!

The Learning Series is a new series in which a number of top modellers introduce step by step techniques to achieve different effects when painting and weathering models and will a highly useful resource for scale modellers and tabletop gamers alike.

The first volume, Realistic Wood Effects weighs in at 84 pages and is packed full of techinques and guides to bringing out the best in the wooden details of your models. It is also a fantastic companion piece to the new Old & Weathered Wood Paint Set 1 and Wood Weathering Set which feature in a number of the articles.
