We love pets at Mighty Ape…some of us here have cats and some of us here have dogs (a few have both…we call them ‘fence sitters’). We can never agree on which one makes the best pet, but we all agree that having an excited pet greet you after a day at work is the highlight of the of the day.
So what's the difference between Dog people and Cat people? We've pulled together some facts (thanks to Hunch.com) to see if we can figure that out.

• Dog owners are more likely to be male
• Dog people are 30% more likely to live in a rural area
• Cat people are 17% more likely to have completed a degree (they do say cats are smarter!)
• Dog people are 28% more likely to own their own homes (probably due to the fact more rental properties won't allow a dog as a pet, but some will allow a cat)
• Cat people are more likely to live in Europe or Oceania
• Dog people are more likely to live in North and South America
• Cat people are 27% more likely to prefer individual competition over team competition
• Dog owners are 36% more likely to be active outdoors
• Cat people are more likely to look after a friend's kids rather than a friend's dog
• Dog owners are 24% more likely to have kids (get to know a cat person, they enjoy looking after them;-P)
• Dog owners are more likely to be iPhone owners, cat owners prefer Android

Mighty Mart continues to grow at a phenomenal rate, in fact with over 300 grocery items on Mighty Mart now, we've created individual pages for each department. This should make it easier for you to find the grocery items you are after. Navigating the site is easy, simply use the department navigation on the top left hand side of each page.

We've also added an International section so you can find all our imported goodies in one place, and we've now marked all the International products on the site with a badge so you can quickly see which products are imported no matter where on the site you are.

That's right, despite the recent wild weather, summer is not too far away…which means it's almost time to bust out the t-shirts (there's plenty of options for the guys and girls over on Mighty Ape!).

To help make it easier for you to find what you're after we've added a new category into the navigation called ‘Snacks’. Any guesses as to what we'll be stocking in this section?;-)

Lets face it, our bearded cousins aside, all men have to shave at some stage during their lives. It becomes part of the daily ritual, up there alongside brushing your teeth and taking a shower.
But have you ever stopped and thought about this sometimes daily affair we have?

We thought we'd do some research (so you don't have to) and present to you here the top facts/myths about shaving…so here you go;

• 0.35 millimeters a day or 1 centimeter per month is the rate at which human hair grows.
• It is also estimated that a man will shave at least 20,000 times in his lifetime.
• Shaving, tweezing or waxing does not cause hair to grow back thicker or fuller.
• While shaving, a person removes about as much skin as hair.
• When saturated with water, the strength of a single strand of hair is approximately one third to one half less than the strength of dry hair, making it much easier to shave.
• The average person has about 615 hairs per square centimeter.
• Most shaving accidents are caused by using dull and/or dirty razor blades, insufficient preparation of the skin and hair before shaving, and using inappropriate equipment and products
• For men, it would take roughly 16 years of shaving to collect together half a kilogram of hair clippings.
• In general, a man removes over 27 feet of hair in his lifetime through shaving alone.
• It is estimated that 85% of men who shave, prefer to wet shave.
• Hair grows faster during the day than at night.
• 5 million is the number of hair follicles covering the human body.

In anticipation of a growing number of grocery deals, we've added department navigation to Mighty Mart so you can jump straight to the products that most interest you.

The navigation is accessible at both desktop and mobile phone screen resolutions to make browsing easier.

There are now over 80 grocery deals on Mighty Mart, and we anticipate this number doubling again over the next month. If you have ideas about the types of products you'd love to see, please drop us an email.

Starting from today, we'll be adding new grocery deals every single day. Previously, we were adding new deals only once per week, on Wednesday.

The idea behind the change is to slowly grow the range of products we offer, bit by bit every day. Deals from previous days will not be removed from the site until they're completely sold out.

In anticipation of the range of grocery deals growing day by day, we've divided the homepage into departments to make shopping easier. In the next few days we'll also be adding departmental navigation so you can jump quickly to the products that interest you.

We have some fantastic deals lined up for the next couple of weeks, including some absolute bargains on household essentials that everyone buys.

At Mighty Ape (and now Mighty Mart) we're always pushing to create a more enjoyable and pleasing web browsing experience. With that in mind, the Mighty Mart website has been built with a responsive design. Wait… what?

Basically, we're trying to create an optimum viewing experience where you don't need to scroll and zoom to make the page readable, and apply this to all shapes and sizes of mobile device. So you can view the website on your smartphone in portrait mode and we'll format the deals in a single column. But, turn your device to a landscape orientation and we'll show deals in two columns, using the width of the screen to our advantage. Similarly on a tablet, we can show two columns in the portrait mode and the full three columns in landscape, giving you the full desktop experience. Hats off to our clever web monkeys who put a lot of work in to pull this off!

At Mighty Ape, we've been thinking that New Zealanders pay too much for groceries and that supermarkets need more competition. We also think that supermarket shopping isn't very convenient. So we built Mighty Mart.

Our vision for Mighty Mart is a place where New Zealanders can stock up on non-perishable household essentials. Things like bathroom and cleaning products, baby-care products, pet food, hot & cold drinks, non-perishable food items such as pasta, pasta sauces etc.

Mighty Mart isn't a one-stop-shop and we don't plan to compete with supermarkets on range. Not right away at least. Instead, expect to see 20–40 great deals added to the site every week. We'll be focusing on offering just the essentials (and some yummy extras) at prices lower than what you'll find at the supermarket. Mighty Mart is designed to complement, not replace, your weekly shop.

It's been a lot of work meeting with local suppliers and getting the site launched. We hope you like what you see, and we look forward to ramping things up and adding more and more deals in the coming weeks. We're just getting started.
