Kubrick films selected for the Library's National Film Registry-and FULL METAL
JACKET (1987), FEAR AND DESIRE follows a squad of soldiers who have crash-landed
behind enemy lines and must work their way downriver to rejoin their unit.
Spartacus (1953)
Spartacus, the genre-defining epic from director Stanley Kubrick, is the
legendary tale of a bold gladiator (Kirk Douglas) who led a triumphant Roman
slave revolt. Filmed in glorious Technicolor, the action-packed spectacle won
four Academy Awards including Best Cinematography and Best Art Direction.

Peter Ustinov, Jean Simmons, John Gavin and Tony Curtis
Dr Strangelove (1964)
Dr Strangelove is still considered 50 years on as a true classic and one of the
finest black comedies ever made. Nominated for four Academy Awards including
Best Picture (1964), Stanley Kubricks black comedy about a group of
paranoia-inspired, war-happy generals who manage to initiate an accidental
nuclear apocalypse, is horribly frightening, delightfully funny and surprisingly
relevant to this day.
