Value and the World Economy Today

“Value and the World Economy Today” brings together a diverse group of globally renowned scholars of international political economy and critical economics to examine the relevance of value theory for understanding the world economy. The book connects literatures that have for the most part developed in isolation from each other and therefore brings questions of theory to bear directly upon the problems of analyzing current global trends and formulating responses to them.

Author Biography

RICHARD WESTRA is Assistant Professor of Political Economy at Pukyong National University, Republic of Korea. His publications include the co-edited volumes Phases of Capitalist Development: Booms, Crises and Globalizations and New Socialisms. He has also recently published articles treating the future institutional configuring of socialist societies and the current Japanese economic crisis. – ALAN ZUEGE is at the Department of Political Science, York University in Toronto, Canada. He is co-editor of the books, Phases of Capitalist Development: Booms, Crises and Globalizations and The Globalization Decade: A Critical Reader, and is a contributing editor of the Socialist Register. He has also recently published articles in Monthly Review, Socialist Register and in the collection, Die Strategie der ‘Neuen Mitte’.
