THE INTELLIGENCER is an expertly crafted mystery that entwines two stories in one spellbinding narrative – one tale is set in the 16th century underworld of espionage, and the other centres on Kate Morgan, a modern day spy. Morgan, a young Harvard graduate working at a private investigation company, introduces us to a world of intrigue, where nothing is as it seems. While uncovering the secrets concealed in a centuries old tomb, she follows leads on two cases – one a covert operation for the US government, and the other a legitimate operation for a beguiling English businessman. Though Kate Morgan’s story dominates, through beautifully crafted historical passages we follow the uncertain fate of a young Christopher Marlowe, the playwright, poet, and gentleman spy of Queen Elizabeth’s secret service. As the two stories progress, we realize that Kate’s own fate may not be so far from her literary hero’s, as she draws closer to uncovering the mysteries behind Marlowe’s ill-fated demise.

Author Biography

Leslie Silbert graduated from Harvard with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in the History of Science and studied Renaissance literature at Oxford. She works as a private investigator in New York City under the guidance of a former CIA officer and is currently writing her second Kate Morgan novel.
