Today, its restored center is Europe’s largest protected historical site, reshaped by extensive demolition and renewal projects. Samantha Maurer Fox is an Assistant Professor of Anthropology at Lehigh University. Her interdisciplinary research examines infrastructure, land use, and urban design in Germany and the United States.
