TeenageJuveni­leDelinquentRoc­knRollHorrorBe­achParty! is the new album byAuckland based neo-rockabilly outfit Boom! Boom! Deluxe, released onAustria’s Plan 9 Trash Records, and one that will be lovingly embraced byNZ’s growing legion of rockabilly fans.

The album serves up a mix of incredibly catchy original songs, authentic highenergy ‘50s rock ‘n’ roll seasoned with a selection of surprising modernclassics, all given the Boom! Boom! Deluxe treatment.

The record does a great job of conveying the energy of the band –delivering a rollicking sound dripping with double bass, electric guitar reverb,harmonica and a thumping up-tempo drum beat.

Over the past few years there has been a huge growth in the popularity of allthings vintage – classic cars, pinup fashion and of course rock ‘n’roll music.

At the forefront of this new movement are Boom! Boom! Deluxe who have beentouring constantly over the past few years and have headlined virtually everymajor event including Beach Hop, Kaikoura Hop, Muscle Car Madness, RockabillyShow & Shine and The Very Vintage Day Out.

TeenageJuveni­leDelinquentRoc­knRollHorrorBe­achParty! was recorded at TheDepot in Auckland and mastered by Jonathan Pearce (The Beths), and does a greatjob of conveying the energy of the band – delivering a rollicking sounddripping with harmonica, electric guitar reverb, double bass and a thumpingup-tempo drum beat. Good time music for good time people!

To top it off, the final cracker track on the album – Against the Law –features D.D. Deluxe dueting with special guest Glen Matlock of The SexPistols.

“From the opening track of their new album Boom! Boom! Deluxe impart afun, retro sound which made me want to don a swing dress, apply red lippy and goin search of a vinyl-playing jukebox (and a dance partner).
The album is fast-paced, energetic and rarely let’s up. It is a confidentoutput and an enjoyable listen, and it really feels like the band are having agood time too.
What the album also shows off is what four musicians invested in1950/60’s rock n roll and rockabilly can bring to the genre in a contemporarysetting. It’s not a new sound, but it is nostalgic, well-produced and I’m aparticular fan of the double bass which is interwoven throughout the albumtracks.
The slightly seductive track Slap My Bottom made me smile and then laugh, thebreathy rendition is reminiscent of starlets of the 1950’s and yet it had acheeky tone to it. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, I can imagine itwill be a good track to hear live.
The finger clicking and opening notes of Everybody Rolls typifies the album,it’s infectious listening and catching the band on their upcoming tour willbe a great chance to enjoy the entertainment and performance factor that thisband bring to their music.
