Cliché-defying, internationally beloved Chicago bluesman is on the cutting edge of today’s contemporary blues scene. As one of the genre’s most creative artists, Cannon blazes his own path with imaginative songs fueled by potent guitar solos and his soulfully authoritative vocals. A Chicago blues icon, he has performed at the Chicago Blues Festival ten times.

A thrilling live performer, Toronzo has appeared in major cities all over the U.S., and has also performed in Canada and Japan, as well as playing multiple tours of Europe. Midwest tour dates in support begin late May in Cleveland, hitting Chicago, Detroit, Columbus, Omaha, and Minneapolis, amongst others. After a June 30 appearance at the prestigious Blues At The Top festival outside Denver, Toronzo plays July dates in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, followed by August shows in the Southeast. There will be additional Midwest dates in September and a return to more Southeast markets in October.

Press, radio and social media focus on the new release and tour dates, pitching stories and reviews to over 1000 print and internet media contacts around the world. Radio-wise, Triple A, Americana and blues specialty show radio airplay will be solicited from over 1400 programmers worldwide.

Shut Up & Play! is Toronzo Cannon’s third Alligator release and features 11 striking new originals delivered with purpose and passion. From scorching-hot blues to a gospel-inspired rave-up to deep, slow burners, the songs tackle the gamut of human emotions, all sparked by Cannon’s dynamic guitar work and commanding, cathartic singing.
