Shibori

Shibori is one of the world’s richest textile traditions in the world. Commonly associated with Japan, it is in fact a technique long used in Africa, India and South America. Combine traditional Japanese, African and Indian shibori methods with contemporary techniques to create stunning textiles that are bursting with rich, intricate patterns and bold colour.

Janice Gunner is an award winning textile artist –particularly known for her quilt art and her Shibori – inboth the UK and internationally. She won the JewelPatterson Scholarship for international Quilt Teachersin 1999, was awarded the Amy Emms MBE forservices to Quilt-making in 2008 and the prestigiousCity & Guilds Medal for Excellence as a lecturer in2018. Janice is a former President of The QuiltersGuild of the British Isles, a member of theContemporary Quilt group of the QGBI and a memberof The Society of Designer Craftsmen.
