The rich red Chureito Pagoda sits amongst stunning boughs of pink cherry blossom and leads our eye to distant city of Fujinomiya, a UNESCO world heritage site. In the distance Mount Fuji dominates the horizon, its peak shrouded in snow whilst clouds gently brush the summit. The Japanese name for the cherry blossom flowering season is “hanami” (flower viewing) and this takes place between the end of March to mid-May, depending upon location within the country.
