The Casio G-Shock premiered in 1983, designed by a Casio engineer named Kikuo Ibe who strove to “create a watch that never breaks.” The Casio development team set out to produce a watch that would endure a ten meter free-fall, with ten bar water resistance, and a ten year battery life. With the creation of a hollow-structure case that encloses the module and glass components of the watch on all sides, the G-Shock met these requirements.
