Painkiller is a modern reimagining of the classic franchise, featuring online co-op for up to three players and offline play. Battle hordes of demons and titanic terrors across richly detailed gothic environments.

Trapped in Purgatory, you are sentenced for your transgressions against Heaven. But the Voice of the Creator gives you a chance to redeem yourself. As one of the Champions, you are to stop the fallen angel Azazel who is about to unleash his demonic armies onto Earth. You will face hordes of enemies, demons with unique powers and three monstrous children of Azazel – the Nephilim.

Will you succeed in your mission and earn your salvation?

Please note:
Painkiller, as developed by Anshar Studios S.A and published by 3D Realms Entertainment ApS, does include offline functionality despite the packaging labeling the product as ‘Online Only’.

To access ‘Offline Mode’, players must download and install a patch, as this mode was not included on the disc during manufacturing. This is a mandatory patch – all players who purchase Painkiller, either the Digital Edition or a Physical Edition, will be prompted to download this patch when they start the game, and therefore will require an internet connection.

Because of this, per packaging requirements from PlayStation and Xbox, an ‘Online Only’ label was required on the front of the game boxes.

Once this mandatory patch is downloaded and installed, no further internet connection is required to play Painkiller in ‘Offline Mode’. This mode currently contains the same content as Online Mode, with the only difference being the ability to play Painkiller without an internet connection.
