Mrs D is (Not) on a Diet

Lotta Dann’s journey with extreme dieting and drastic weight loss led to endless praise for her skinny body. But no one knew what she had to do to maintain it.

When the weight came back on, Lotta started asking fundamental questions that she’d never considered before.

Why do we believe that to be healthy you must be skinny? Why do we think any measure of fat on our body is bad? Why do so many of us hate our bodies? And why do we spend so much time, money and energy trying to shrink ourselves?

The answers surprised her, angered her, and ultimately empowered her. She thinks they will do the same for you.

Author Biography

Lotta Dann is the author of Mrs D is Going Without, Mrs D is Going Within and The Wine O’Clock Myth: The truth you need to know about women & alcohol. She collaborates with the New Zealand Drug Foundation to run Living Sober, a website that helps more than 50,000 people a year to manage their relationship with alcohol. Lotta is also a Project Lead at Blueprint for Learning for the Addiction 101 workshop, designed to increase understanding and reduce stigma associated with addiction. In 2023 she was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM) for her work in addiction-recovery advocacy. She lives in Wellington.
