David Pandone was born in Ohio and left ‘the rust belt’ in 2002 to work as a teacher in public education. Spending most of his educational tenure teaching high school students in business electives, he quickly found that students earning their first paychecks were more likely to head to the mall than to the bank. Seeing the need for personal financial education and guidance in his students, he authored his own curriculum. Many of the exercises and assignments from the classroom were adapted to form the solutions in the MoneySmart Personal Finance Solutions books. Consistent inquiries over the years from parents asking, “Can I take your class somewhere myself?” encouraged David to craft his ideas and money managing skills into a written system.
