The turtles were once ordinary red-eared slider turtles born in 1997 in a New York City pet store. One day, they were adopted, and an accident involving a canister of Mutagen Ooze turned them into humanoids along with a brown rat by the name of Splinter, who became their father and trained them in the art of ninjitsu deep in the sewers under the city. They grew to be great heroes and gained great foes in the process.

The front of this backpack takes on the shape of an 80s arcade game with debossing and applique details for the controls and joysticks. Clear PVC material over the “screen” makes it appear shiny, and lenticular details offer three different views: two in which the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles jump into action in games and another in which you can select a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle player to start. Just behind the controls, there’s a hidden zipper pocket, perfect for storing smaller items on your journeys. Purple and green trim add pops of color, and, in the dark, the green trim around the arcade game, and around the side pockets, glows! On the back, you’ll find printed artwork of Leonardo in action.
