When producer Gabriel ‘Messenjah’ Calcott began work on the riddims for the “Kings Highway” LP he had no idea who would come knocking on his door. Artists such as Luciano, Lutan Fyah, Natty King, Jah Mason and other internationally renowned reggae artists jumped at the opportunity to be involved with the project.
To say it is unusual for artists of this caliber to work on a project produced in the Pacific nation of New Zealand is an under-statement – the involvement of some of the world’s top reggae artists is testament to Reality Chant’s production standard and is the culmination of many years work. Reality Chant Productions is a New Zealand based record label spearheaded by ‘Messenjah’, the producer of two Dubwize albums, Snypa Levi’s solo album, “The Sojourner”, and the hit “Country Living” riddim selection. Recorded across the US, UK, Jamaica and at Dubwize HQ in Sumner, Christchurch, “Kings Highway” is held together by the unique Reality Chant Sound.
