Indecent Theology

This work aims to bring liberation theology up to date by introducing the radical critical approaches of gender, post-colonial and queer theory, and grounding the theoretical in actual examples from Latin America. Althaus-Reid re-works three distinct areas of theology – sexual, political and systematic – exposing the connections between theology, sexuality and politics, while presenting a methodology for a sexual re-reading of “Systematic Theology”, with the aim of broaden the debate on sexuality and theology.

Author Biography

Marcella Althaus-Reid is Lecturer in Christian Ethics and Practical Theology at the University of Edinburgh. She is a Latin American theologian who trained during the years of political conflict in the southern cone of South America.
