H.P. Lovecraft

The U.S.S. Augustus is a nuclear submarine. It’s crew is unaccustomed to picking up castaways, especially on uncharted islands in the middle of the Atlantic. But that is where the Augustus finds Emma Loveless, sole survivor of a private jet crash. Discovered also is a strange statue of a monstrous sea god killing a whale. The Pentagon contacts Marcus Steed who informs the military the stature is not of a sea god but an elder god once worshipped by the Philistines as Dagon. In addition to the comic adaptation of the story, the original H.P. Lovecraft story is also included in this volume.

Author Biography

Steven Philip Jones is a writer, reviewer and editor. His most recent books include The Clive Cussler Adventures: A Critical Review and Comics Writing: Communicating with Comics. His comics credits include adaptations of the film Re-Animator and Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula, and the original series Nightlinger and Street Heroes. Jones is also co-creator with Barb Jacobs of the award-nominated fantasy series Talismen. Sergio Cariello is a graduate of the Joe Kubert School of Art. His most recent credits include The Action Bible, which has been printed in several different languages and published around the world. Sergio’s other comics credits include work on Justice League, Batman and The Lone Ranger. H. P. Lovecraft is often cited as one of the three titans of American horror along with Edgar Allan Poe and Stephen King. His fiction continues to influence horror and fantasy writers while creations like Cthulhu, the Necronomicon and Herbert West have become horror icons.
