At the start, it all looked uphill… In Spring 2001, Tim Wambach stopped by a school district office on a whim and put in an application to be a substitute teacher – but that’s when the wheel of fate began to roll. Soon, he found himself face-to-face with a 12-year-old kid named Mike Berkson, a warm, funny, optimistic genius trapped in a body challenged by Cerebral Palsy. The teacher was in for the biggest lesson of his life. Four years later, Tim Wambach was running across America trying to raise awareness of the difficulties faced by some of America’s most valuable citizens. This is the story of two men, one wheelchair, and a dream that became a mission…

TIM WAMBACH is the co-founder and president of the Chicago-based Keep On Keeping On Foundation, a group of caring volunteers eager to make a difference in the Special Needs Community. The KOKO Team’s focus is to both assist and raise awareness for those born with severe physical disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy and Muscular Dystrophy.
