On a sunny morning in March 1987, four-year-old Stephen Nelson welcomes his new baby sister, Emily. Holding her for the first time, he vows to love and protect her, and to keep her safe forever.

Nearly thirty years later, the two have lost touch and Stephen is homeless.

Emily, however, has never given up hope of finding her brother again-and when he arrives at the council office where she works, looking for a flat, her wish comes true. But they say you should be careful what you wish for – and perhaps they’re right.

In an attempt to rebuild their relationship, the two embark on a birding trip together. During the course of that trip, Emily is forced to unearth some long-buried memories about a single June day, fifteen years earlier – a day that shattered her world and changed everything.

Author Biography

Katy Regan was born in 1974 and brought up in the northern seaside town of Morecambe. She went on to study English and French at Leeds University, where she became features editor of the student newspaper, before moving to London. She wrote for various magazines and newspapers before becoming commissioning editor at Marie Claire magazine. How to Find Your Way Home is her sixth novel. Katy, who has one son, now lives in Hertfordshire.
