Suuns (pronounced “soons”) directly translates to “zeroes” in Thai, formed in 2007 in Montreal when vocalist, guitarist, Ben Shemie and guitarist, Joe Yarmush came together to write – soon to be joined by Liam on drums and Max Henry on synthesisers.
Their first two records were critically acclaimed hits, and cemented the band’s place in the late 00’s musical renaissance of Montreal (The Besnard Lakes, Islands…) creating something a little different from the grand, sweeping, gothic ensembles of the time. Suuns were creating music with a minimalist aesthetic – pop music, yet deconstructed and dissonant.
