Zachary is an American cellist living in Paris.
Born in New York City into a family of music lovers, he quickly realized his passion for the cello. Pushing and incorporating the classical conventions of the instrument through non-traditional musical contexts such as experimental jazz, pop, serialism, electro-acoustic folk, among others, has been a catalyst for various collaborations, concerts, and recordings with artists that bridge both genre and artistic disciplines. He began his early studies at the Manhattan School of Music and later studied Music and Philosophy at Vanderbilt University before comingto Paris for his postgraduate studies with Alain Meunier at the Paris Conservatory. He plays a De Barbieri cello (a.k.a. CBBG Miskin). For Your Safety is a concept album he conceived to give a different voice to his instrument, collaborating with several big names of the current musical world, such as members of THE NATIONAL and THE BOOKS Listen to Wasn’t that Lucky, In the Ocean or Long Winter on www.naive.fr.
