What began as an artist’s experiment became a vibrant collection of art. Week after week, artist Leyla Modirzadeh created a new work of art reflecting a recent observation. As the project progressed, she found that this deep examination of ordinary moments exposed unexpected details. The result is Everyday Oddities, a witty visual diary depicting everyday moments through a dreamlike, at times irreverent, lens.

Brimming with bright hand-drawn illustrations that explore a range of emotions from childlike playfulness to painful reality, this collection of unusual drawings, cartoons, and haikus celebrates life in all its quirky glory. On each page, Everyday Oddities invites readers to tease the wonder from their days and enter into Leyla’s off-kilter, idiosyncratic world.

Author Biography

Leyla Modirzadeh is an Iranian American artist, performer, and educator. She has acted in theaters across the country, including the Kennedy Center, Wisdom Bridge Theatre, A Contemporary Theatre, and The Group Theatre. Her writing has been featured in various publications, including “Wild Words” and “Arts Education for Social Justice.” In 2002, she founded Two Little Heads Productions, a film and video production company in New York City.
