Diabetes

Published in association with the British Diabetic Association, this book contains their updated health care and nutrition advice: on keeping weight down; on using carbohydrates to steady glucose level; and what to do in an emergency. Each recipe is devised specifically to match the nutritive needs of diabetes – but these recipes are healthy enough for anyone wanting to stick to a low sugar, high fibre, low fat diet. Calorie counts and CBH (carbohydrate) ratings are provided alongside every recipe to make it easy to keep track of glucose and energy levels. The recipes are designed for: easy, everyday meals; meals for one, two or more people; dinners parties and vegetarian options when entertaining.

Azmina Govindji was chief dietition at the BDA. She has written two cookbooks, Quick and Easy Curries (Sainsbury’s), Feasts from the East (Weight Watchers) and was co-author of Recipes for Health Diabetes.
