Catharsis Absolute

Avichi is the sole vision of black metal multi-instrumentalist Andrew Markuszewski (aka Aamonael), who was an initial founding member of popular and notorious U.S. black metal act Nachtmystium, a band in which Markuszewski has made several appearances in through Nachtmystium’s e­xistence. Markuszewski also is one of the main musicians in his other main band, namely blackened doom metal abomination Lord Mantis (who will coincidentally release their Profound Lore Records debut in April, 2014).

But Avichi is Markuszewski’s ou­tlet to show that he is one of America’s under­ground visionaries in its black metal scene. Forming in 2006 and releasing the debut album “The Divine Tragedy” only showed promise at what Avichi had to offer. But it wasn’t until Avichi’s Profound Lore debut, “The Devil’s Fractal” where awareness would build even more, awareness in which will go that much further with the new Avichi album Catharsis Absolute in solidifying Avichi as one of the premiere U.S. black metal bands today.

Catharsis Absolute sees Avichi create a wholly new expression of virulent yet enlightening sophisticated black metal and sees Markuszewski create his most accomplished musical work to date.
