The many extant copies of this cantata for alto and harpsichord, here given its world premiere recording, testify to the impact it had in its own time.
The Venitian poet Antonio Conti had received from Marcello the order of a dramatic text that allows a quick succession of the affects. Cassandra plunges us into the drama which takes place at the time of the Trojan War, with its prophetess who has the gift of predicting the future, but whom no one will ever believe. The range of the vocal part stretches on more than three octaves, which explains the difficulty to find an interpret able to sing it. A real technical performance of about 50 minutes, completed on the disc by the concerto (from Marcello) BWV 981 from J.S. Bach.We are committed to protecting your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act and working with our suppliers to assist with warranty claims.
