A Pool Player's Journey

This book presents the game of pool as a body and mind experience that must be kept in sync. Physical concepts are discussed in detail, but the major theme of the book focuses on the intellectual and emotional elements necessary to achieve maximum performance. Equating a player’s development to martial arts training, the text stresses mental discipline, focus and positive lifestyle choices. Also a comprehensive and insightful glossary presents multiple mini-lessons to aid in the pursuit of competitive excellence.

Author Biography

Dale Brandt began playing pool at the age of six in a family-owned tavern in Wisconsin. He has experience as a barroom player, a league player and a tournament player. When he played on the Billiard Congress of Wisconsin 9-ball tour, his opponents included professional players. He studied writing and journalism at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. His first pool book, The Mind’s Eye, took him into contact with professional players, cue makers and top billiard instructors. He used this expanding knowledge to become a monthly columnist for The American Cueist magazine. While writing these columns certain concepts began to repeat. These repeating themes have now become A Pool Player’s Journey (In Pursuit of Excellence).
